The Alaska Airlines Pilots Charitable Fund (AAPCF) has granted Children’s Therapy Center $20,000 to support expansion of their outdoor facilities in Kent.

The AAPCF helps qualified nonprofit organizations serve the needs of youth within the communities of the Alaska Airlines route network and the communities in which their pilots live.

“The AAPCF has generously supported Children’s Therapy Center for many years,” said Barry Gourley, CEO of Children’s Therapy Center. “This $20,000 grant enables us expand our program by offering more special education classes and playgroups for children.”

The grant will be used to add a roof structure to the existing outdoor playground, allowing it to be used more frequently during inclement weather and freeing up indoor space for additional programs.

“Demand for our pediatric physical, speech and occupational therapy services has grown tremendously in the past few years,” Gourley said. “We’ve reached capacity indoors. Maximizing the use of outdoor space allows us to move more children off our waiting list and into the programs they need.”

Dan Hoffman, president of the Alaska Airlines Pilots Charitable Fund, presented the check on May 3.
