Firefighters found a woman dead inside a SeaTac mobile home Tuesday after responding to a two-alarm fire.

The first report of the fire came from a person inside the double-wide mobile home at 1:08 p.m. in the 18100 block of 36th Place South, according to a Puget Sound Fire news release. That person was able to get out safely, but reported that a woman was not able to escape.

When firefighters arrived from Puget Sound Fire, the Port of Seattle, Tukwila and Burien, they found the home with flames coming from the roof and almost fully engulfed. Although they were able to extinguish the fire quickly and keep it from spreading to other nearby residences, the mobile home was heavily damaged.

The person who was able to escape was treated by King County Medic One and transported to a local hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.

Puget Sound Fire investigators are on scene to determine the cause of the fire. The King County Medical Examiner’s Office has been notified and will work with the investigators to determine the cause of death and provide positive identification of the woman.

The Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority contracts with the City of SeaTac to provide services and has done so since 2014.
