For the Reporter<\/strong><\/p>\n The Everett Silvertips defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 2-1 in overtime at the Angel of the Winds Arena in Everett on Saturday night.<\/p>\n The T-Birds (30-24-8-2) are seven points ahead of the Kamloops Blazers for the Western Conference’s second wild-card playoff slot. The T-Birds have three games in hand on the Blazers. They are two points behind the Tri-City Americans for the first wild-card spot.<\/p>\n The T-Birds’ magic number to clinch a wild-card playoff spot is two. Any combination of Seattle wins and Kamloops losses and the T-Birds can do no worse than the second wild-card playoff spot.<\/p>\n The T-Birds play the Winterhawks at 5:05 p.m. Sunday at the accesso ShoWare Center. The game is being broadcast in Seattle on JOEtv Channel 22\/Cable 110, with Ian Furness and Andy Johnson on the call.<\/p>\n Everett (43-18-2-3) took a 1-0 lead at 7:08 of the first period on a goal by Patrick Bajkov. Matt Fonteyne and Sean Richards had the assists.<\/p>\n Seattle tied the game 1-1 at 13:54 of the second period. Turner Ottenbreit moved the puck up the left wing to Zack Andrusiak. Andrusiak dropped the puck to Noah Philp just inside the blue line. Philp skated into the left circle and beat Everett goalie Carter Hart for his 14th goal of the season.<\/p>\n Everett’s Connor Dewar scored the game-winning goal in overtime at 2:57 on the power play. Bajkov and Fonteyne had the assists.<\/p>\n The Silvertips outshot the T-Birds 46-18 in the game.<\/p>\n Seattle goalie Liam Hughes record is 12-10-5-1 after making 44 saves on 46 shots.<\/p>\n Hart had 17 saves on 18 shots, and his record is 28-4-1-3.<\/p>\n
