Kentridge’s William Sirbu and John Shores captured weight class titles at a state-qualifying regional wrestling tournament at Tahoma High School on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Tahoma ran off with the regional title with 289.5 points, followed by Kentwood (164), Skyline (99) and Kentridge (84).<\/p>\n

Top finishers in each weight class earned berths to this weekend’s Mat Classic, the 4A state championships, at the Tacoma Dome.<\/p>\n

Sirbu, a junior, pinned Mount Si’s Tryon Kaess in 1 minute, 43 seconds for the 106-pound title. Shores won the 152-pound title with a 5-1 decision against Tahoma’s Gunner Starren.<\/p>\n

Kentwood’s Carson Yancey (120), Layton Smail (126) and Jay Jay Cortez (132) were second, and Stephen Watson (152), Dominic Kremer (170) and Michael Orozco (220) were third.<\/p>\n

For Kentridge, Ryan Park (113) and Tyler Smith (138) scored thirds.<\/p>\n

For Kent-Meridian, Sokhan Son was third at 126 and Abdulha Fnu (113), Bryan Nguyen (132), Boden Duerre (160) and Daniel Hernandez (195) were fourth.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
