I am voting no on special elections Propositions 1 and 2 for Kent schools.

School district finances have not been transparent. Promises have not been kept. Emails and input from the community, parents are disregarded. When called out on some of the district’s closed decisions, they are always ready to place blame – on the U.S. president, on the state government, on the old superintendent or district finance officers. Their list goes on.

They are not willing to stand behind their decisions.

Now the school district is doing a song and dance act to get the community on the bandwagon for two new propositions. They can pitch it however they’d like, but both propositions will cost taxpayers more money.

As long as we continue to allow the school board and district officials to run wild with their agenda and spend our money however they’d like, they will. If we want our voice to be heard in the education-making process for our kids, if we want the district to be open, transparent and wise stewards with our money, we need to vote no on Propositions 1 and 2. We need to demand that they sit down with us and understand our concerns, tap into our knowledge and resources and work together to make our district great. They and we – together – can do so much better.

Vote no on KSD Propositions 1 and 2.
