{"id":3283,"date":"2009-02-27T14:32:15","date_gmt":"2009-02-27T22:32:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spiken.wpengine.com\/news\/vargas-offered-top-kent-schools-position\/"},"modified":"2016-10-23T04:30:30","modified_gmt":"2016-10-23T11:30:30","slug":"vargas-offered-top-kent-schools-position","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/vargas-offered-top-kent-schools-position\/","title":{"rendered":"Vargas offered top Kent Schools position"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Kent School Board Wednesday officially and unanimously appointed Dr. Edward Lee Vargas as Kent\u2019s next superintendent.<\/p>\n<p>The district on Monday announced the board had narrowed its focus to Vargas, but the vote at the top of the Feb. 25 board meeting sealed the deal.<\/p>\n<p>Vargas, 56, is the 2006 California Superintendent of the Year from his time at the head of the Hacienda La Puenta School District outside Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>He is presently the superintendent in residence\/executive advisor of Davis Innovations, Inc. and Superintendent in Residence of the Stupski Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>In 2006, Vargas was named California Superintendent of the Year and has prior local experience with the Seattle School District.<\/p>\n<p>Vargas was selected over Dr. Tim Mills of Colorado.
