Cheryl Kilodavis, a business strategist and company transformations executive, has been appointed interim executive director of Kent-based DAWN (Domestic Abuse Women’s Network) by its board and leadership.

Peg Coleman, previous executive director for nearly four years, will transition to strategic advisor.

Kilodavis began serving in the interim executive director role on Jan. 2.

“Our organization is very fortunate to have Cheryl step in at this exciting and critical time,” board president Nancy Phipps shared in announcing the appointment. “The board started this process by identifying the immediate priority of how we grow the organization to meet the rising demand for more of our services.

“Cheryl is known as a results oriented people- and organizational-builder. Her experience, leadership style and business background will bring new energy and help us translate industry growth challenges in to great partnerships and opportunities,” Phipps said.

After nearly four decades of domestic violence services in South King County, DAWN officials said it was the opportune time to build upon its foundation for a strong, growth trajectory.

In accepting the appointment, Kilodavis wrote: “I am grateful to continue with strategic planning for more growth at DAWN. I am here to focus on making sure DAWN is prepared to do more and expand our reach to continue the life-saving support that the community relies on.”

DAWN, a nonprofit organization, focuses its resources and expertise on empowering families and communities to be free from violence. DAWN has helped about 5,000 survivors of domestic violence each year through its programs.
