The post, a nonprofit organization, attends many veterans-focused events and is involved in many programs, including the coordination of activities with area Scouting.<\/p>\n<p>Veterans Day weekend brought members to the East Hill care facility. Post members greeted veterans and hand-delivered certificates commending them for their military service and remembrance red poppies, a flower that has been used since 1921 to commemorate military personnel who served the country.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We wanted to make sure they&rsquo;re recognized,&rdquo; said Alan B&rsquo;Hymer of VFW 6785. &ldquo;We want to honor them for their service.
