Russell Grove of North Idaho College on Thursday won the Pacific Northwest PGA Professional Championship by five strokes over 2007 champion Brian Thornton of Meridian Valley Country Club.<\/p>\n
Jerrel Grow of Pronghorn Golf Course (Bend, Ore.) finished third.<\/p>\n
Grove shot a final-round 67 to finish at 15 under in the 54-hole event at the Circling Raven Golf Club in Worley, Idaho. Thornton shot rounds of 67, 68 and 71 to finish at 10-under par.<\/p>\n
The top seven professionals earned a spot and advanced directly to the PGA Professional Championship, presented by Club Car, Mercedes-Benz USA and Omega, at Bayonet Black Horse, Seaside, Calif., on June 17-20.<\/p>\n
In addition to Grove, Thornton, and Grow, Trevor Fox of The GC at Black Rock (Coeur d’Alene, Idaho); Bob Rannow of Sandpines (Florence, Ore.); John Cassidy of The Home Course (Dupont); and Tim Feenstra of Broadmoor GC (Seattle) earned spots.<\/p>\n
Additionally, the low 20 scores at the 2018 PGA Professional Championship will earn a place in the 100th PGA Championship at Bellerive CC, St. Louis on Aug. 16-19.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
