Pediatric Interim Care Center is seeking participants and donors for its annual Walk for the Babies – a 5-kilometer walkathon to raise money for the care of drug-affected infants in PICC’s newborn nursery.

On-site registration, T-shirt pick-up and face painting start in front of Duke’s Chowder House, 240 W. Kent Station St., at9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7. The walk begins at 10 a.m. and will go past PICC on Fourth Avenue and then complete a loop on the Interurban Trail, ending back at Duke’s for a chowder feed and prizes.

The walkathon raises critically needed funds for the care of newborns withdrawing from prenatal drug exposures. PICC is the only facility in Washington state that provides 24-hour specialized nursing care for drug-affected and medically fragile infants.

Kent Station, Duke’s Chowder House and Road Runner Sports are hosting the Walk for the Babies, and Mutual of Enumclaw Insurance, M & M Construction, Commencement Bank, Virginia Sweiberg, and Walmart are event sponsors.
