Someone fired shots at a man as he walked out of the state Department of Corrections (DOC) field office, 606 W. Gowe St., at about noon Tuesday in downtown Kent.

“Preliminary information has led us to believe that as a male walked out of the office, an unknown suspect fired more than one shot in his direction,” said Kent Police spokesman Jarod Kasner in an email. “At this time no one has reported that they were hit or injured in this incident. However, a nearby building was struck.”

A witness reported the shot hit the Llewellyn Real Estate office, 601 W.
