A Covington man pleaded not guilty on Monday to two charges of first-degree murder for shooting a homeless man and woman last year in Kent.

Bradley T. Shaw, 30, entered the pleas in King County Superior Court at the Maleng Regional Justice Center (RJC) in Kent, according to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. He remains in the county jail at the RJC with bail set at $4 million. He is scheduled to return to court Sept. 11 for a hearing when a trial date could be set or attorneys could ask for more time to prepare the case.

Prosecutors charged Shaw with killing Louisa Campos, 31, on Aug. 12, 2016; and Robert Dias, 48, on Aug. 13 2016, at a transient camp in the 22200 block of 88th Avenue South.

If convicted as charged, Shaw could be sentenced from 50 to 63 years in prison, according to court documents.

Shaw allegedly became upset with Campos after a dispute in a service station store line after he had cut in line. Campos and others became upset that Shaw had cut in line. Shaw followed Campos to where she was staying, returned the next day and shot her after a short argument.

Shaw reportedly went back to the homeless camp the following night looking for witnesses and shot Dias.

Kent Police broke the unsolved case in early August after a tip from a former military buddy of Shaw. Shaw called the man and told him details about the shootings. The man then called police.
