Mrs. Gladys Matthews (née Peck), of Kent, WA, passed away peacefully at the end of April, 2017 from cancer and heart problems.<\/p>\n

Gladys was born to parents Charles and Christine Peck on May 23, in Wolf Creek, WI. She grew up as the youngest of seven and only daughter. In 1957, she married Morris Matthews, who passed away in 1990. After living in Wisconsin, Illinois, North Dakota, and West Virginia, Gladys and Morris settled in Kent, WA.<\/p>\n

Gladys enjoyed reading mysteries, biography, and history; doing crossword puzzles; gardening; knitting, crocheting, and other crafts; and researching the Matthews and Peck genealogies.<\/p>\n

Gladys is survived by her sons Brian and Jeff; her dog Leah; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and their families. She is preceded in death by her husband, Morris; her parents, Charles and Christine; and her brothers, Roy, Louis, Wilmer, Herbert, Raymond, Russell, and an unnamed baby brother.<\/p>\n

At Gladys’ request, her body was cremated and the ashes will be buried at a future date in Wisconsin. Condolences may be sent to Brian & Jeff at 10513 SE 219th St, Kent WA 98031. Donations may be made in Gladys’ name to The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee (https:\/\/elephants.com\/), the Wisconsin Historical Society (http:\/\/www.wisconsinhistory.org\/), or the Progressive Animal Welfare Society (PAWS, https:\/\/www.paws.org\/).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
