Kentwood High School senior Avry Freaney was recently named an Academic All-American by the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association.<\/p>\n
Freaney started her swimming career on the school’s junior varsity team and ended it swimming at the 4A state meet, all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA, coach Sharon Wright said.<\/p>\n
“She is an incredible young lady who has high standards for herself,” Wright said of the two-time team captain.<\/p>\n
Freaney will attend the University of Washington in the fall.<\/p>\n
“Avry will be extremely successful in life and is looking forward to being a Husky,” Wright said.<\/p>\n
Out of more than 340,000 students nationwide involved in aquatics, about 2 percent received this honor.<\/p>\n
