Kentridge High School student Martina Du and state Sen. Joe Fain (R-Auburn) spoke at a Washington FIRST Robotics event Tuesday at the Museum of History and Industry in Seattle.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Washington FIRST Robotics is part of a national organization that emphasizes STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education and leadership through hands-on robotics programs, competitions and scholarships.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Du, a member of the Charger robotics team, spoke eloquently about what FIRST means to her and students all over the state.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

“FIRST Robotics is more than just a program to develop technical skills,” Fain said. “It’s about exposing a generation of students to the culture of science and the knowledge, problem solving skills and infectious curiosity that comes with it.”<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
