Retirement planning is hard work – it isn’t as easy as it seems.<\/p>\n
A group of retired school employees host a free retirement seminar on Saturday, April 22, to help other school employees plan for the momentous event.<\/p>\n
The meeting begins at 8 a.m. at the Prince of Peace Church, 19030 8th Ave. S, SeaTac.<\/p>\n
The Washington State School Retirees Association’s four King County units – Renton-South King, Seattle, East King, and Southwest King – are presenting the meeting for anyone who works or has worked for a public school in Washington. That encompasses Kent, Auburn, Renton, Tahoma school districts as well as Seattle, Highline and Bellevue.<\/p>\n
The group wants all school area educators and support staff, from janitors and cooks to bus drivers, to have access to the free retirement seminar with state and local experts.<\/p>\n
The highlight of the conference will be Jeff Dixon-Ross of the Public Employees Benefit Bureau, who will discuss all the insurance benefits available to school district retirees, including Public Employees Benefits Board (PEBB).<\/p>\n
Rick Nebeker, president of Washington State School Retirees’ Association and Catherine Cadoo, Department of Retirement, will address plans 1, 2 and 3 of TRS, PERS, and SERS as well as deferred compensation.<\/p>\n
Don Berg and Arleen Nomura, from Statewide Health Insurance benefits advisors will discuss Medicare options, and both will be available to answer any one-on-one questions after their presentation.<\/p>\n
Rohn Rutledge from Association Member Benefits Advisors (AMBA) will discuss the benefits derived from joining the Washington State School Retirees Association and one of its local units.<\/p>\n
