Kentridge High School junior Tyler Cronk set a school high jump record of 7 feet, 1 inch last Saturday at the Ray Cockrum Relays in Wenatchee.<\/p>\n
Snohomish High School’s Taylor Devries took second in the event (6 feet, 4 inches).<\/p>\n
Jeff Hone held the previous Kentridge record of 6 feet, 9 inches since 1987.<\/p>\n
Cronk’s previous best jump was 6 feet, 6 inches at Kentridge’s dual meet against Kennedy Catholic on March 23.<\/p>\n
Last season, Cronk’s best jump was 6 feet, 5 inches. He took second place in the South Puget Sound League 4A championship meet last season (6 feet, 4 inches) and finished eighth in the West Central District 4A meet (6 feet).<\/p>\n
“Tyler has exceptional natural ability for the high jump,” Kentridge boys track and field coach Al Waltner said in an email. “He is obviously making incredible improvement. It will be fun to see how high he can take it.”<\/p>\n
Kentridge’s next meet is against Mount Rainer High School at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, at Highline Stadium in Burien.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
