Erica Peto, a Lake Tapps resident, Kent elementary school teacher and artist, won a poster contest promoting this year’s 20th Jazz in the Valley Festival in historic downtown Ellensburg.

The July 28-30 festival showcases some of the area’s top musicians.

Peto grew up in the Tri-Cities, attended Eastern Washington University and has made many trips over the Cascades and through Ellensburg to visit family.

In describing her inspiration for the poster, Peto said, “Thinking about Jazz in the Valley, I remembered all those warm summer evening drives, smelling the grapes ripening on the vine. A background of beautiful rolling hills with music wafting in on a warm sunny breeze was the picture that materialized from those memories.”
