Rashon Slaughter pumped in a game-high 22 points as Federal Way defeated Kentwood 70-61 in a 4A state regional boys basketball playoff game at Puyallup High School on Saturday night.<\/p>\n
The fourth-ranked Eagles (24-2) took the rubber game, having lost two meetings against the No. 5 Conquerors (23-3). Earlier this month, Kentwood snapped Federal Way’s 63-game winning streak in the first meeting and later downed the Eagles in the district title game.<\/p>\n
Federal Way, two-time defending state champion, advances to a 9 a.m. Thursday quarterfinal game in the Hardwood Classic at the Tacoma Dome, where they will play the winner of the Davis-Richland game set for Wednesday, also in the Dome.<\/p>\n
Kentwood must play Bellarmine Prep at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday at the Classic. The winner gets Curtis at 12:15 Thursday.<\/p>\n
Federal Way jumped out to a 37-19 lead at halftime before Kentwood responded. The Conks drew within five points in the fourth quarter but came no closer.<\/p>\n
Rayvaaughn Bolton and Beau Roggenbach each scored 16 points for Kentwood. Koby Huerta had 11 and Darius Labom finished with 10 points for the Conks.<\/p>\n
