The Seattle Majestics women’s football team<\/a> is hoping to reverse its fortunes Saturday, when it takes on the Portland Shockwave<\/a> at Kent’s French Field.<\/p>\n

Kickoff is 7 p.m.<\/p>\n

“For one, we’re really excited to be back home,” said team co-owner Camille Head, of the Majestics’ season, which has been mostly on the road so far.<\/p>\n

“It’s been almost three weeks since our last home game, so we’re ready to win a game for the fans. I think we’re going to come together as a cohesive unit and throw a ‘W’ on the board.”<\/p>\n

There’s been a learning curve this season for the team, which has seen a number of rookies on the field, in addition to some position changes for veteran players. That’s made for some rough going so far this season for the team, which dropped its third-straight game April 17, falling to Portland 22-7 at McKenzie Stadium in Vancouver.<\/p>\n

“It’s a lot of newness,” Head said.<\/p>\n

Portland posted a pair of second-quarter touchdowns in that game to take a 15-0 halftime lead en route to the victory. Seattle managed a fourth-quarter touchdown, but little other offense. With the loss, the Majestics fell to 0-3 in the Independent Women’s Football League’s Western Conference. Seattle has been outscored this season 107-35.<\/p>\n

Head said she was hopeful that with some real-game experience under their belts, the players would be able to start making the plays.<\/p>\n

“We definitely made some adjustments,” Head said. “I believe that some experience has gotten under the belts of players being in new positions, and for the rookies who came on board. That experience is going to pay off.”<\/p>\n
