Deborah Casey, Green River College’s vice president of student affairs, will serve as the interim vice president of instruction, while the college searches to replace Derek Brandes.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Brandes was hired as president of Walla Walla Community College, after four years at Green River. Previously, he was the dean of career and technical education at Pasco’s Columbia Basin College. Brandes grew up in the Tri-Cities, and he and his family are excited to return to the area, according to a media release from Green River.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Casey, who has worked at Green River for 10 years, will continue her duties as vice president of student affairs while in the interim role.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Green River plans to recruit for the vice president of instruction position over the next year, and will spend the next few months drafting the position announcement before posting it in October. Interviews will take place next February and March, with the new vice president starting July 1, 2017.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
