People who want to live in a Kent retirement community are going to have yet another choice in a couple of years.<\/p>\n
Oregon-based Holiday Retirement plans to build a 127-unit, three-story independent senior living facility at 25035 104th Ave. <\/a>SE<\/a>, according to conditional use permits filed with the city for the 4-acre site.<\/p>\n “We hope to break ground the middle of this year,” said a Holiday of Kent spokesman, who asked that his name not be published. “Our goal is to open in the third quarter of 2018.”<\/p>\n Holiday of Kent is the fourth senior living complex planned in the city over the next year or so.<\/p>\n “Our consultant recommended Kent based on market studies that show it as a nice community with a base of seniors who will benefit from a state-of-the-art facility,” the spokesman said.<\/p>\n The company didn’t have any concerns about other senior living facilities opening in Kent on a similar timeline.<\/p>\n “Some of the others include higher levels of care,” the spokesman said. “Ours is like any apartment building, but it will have a dining area and serve three meals a day. But there will be no health care or assisted living. It’s intended for seniors who do not want to remain in their current residence.”<\/p>\n Holiday has more than 300 facilities in 43 states. Holiday’s headquarters are in Lake Oswego, just outside of Portland.<\/p>\n It has 16 senior living facilities in Washington.<\/p>\n The Kent complex will include laundry and fitness facilities and 78 parking spaces. Traffic access to the site will be from 104th Avenue Southeast.<\/p>\n Other senior living facilities coming to town include:<\/p>\n • Legacy Affordable Retirement Communities (LARC), a three-story, 131-unit senior apartment complex at 1001 First Ave. N. The property sits just north of the North Park neighborhood and southeast of Highway 167.<\/p>\n • The Reserve at Kent, a six-story downtown building with 252 units at 623 W.
