The Kent Downtown Partnership wants residents to help name the penguin sculptures standing at the corner of West Meeker Street and Second Aveune.

Papa Penguin is handcrafted out of spoons and tire tubes while his son is made out of forks. The creative genius behind the project is Greg Bartol, local artisan and welding instructor for Green River College.

Kent Downtown Partnership leaders say these two will become a wonderful addition to downtown and will bring in all sorts of fun photo opportunities for families and visitors over the next year.

All ages are welcome to enter the contest and the winner will be awarded a $50 prize.

Please submit your name suggestions no later than 10 p.m. on Jan. 31. The winner will be chosen by the KDP Board in February and will be contacted directly.
