The woman and man killed in a Kent murder-suicide on Sunday night were identified on Tuesday by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office.<\/p>\n
Karen Perez-Palencia, 24, died of multiple gunshot wounds. Erick Orteno-Perez, 24, died from a self-inflicted handgun wound to the head.<\/p>\n
A dispute led to the shooting deaths of the two, who were in a dating relationship, Kent Police reported.<\/p>\n
Another woman, who is related to Orteno-Perez, was injured in the shooting.<\/p>\n
Officers responded to a report of a shooting around 7 p.m. inside a house in the 20400 block of 92nd Avenue South, according to a police media release. Officers discovered a woman shot to death, an unconscious man who had been shot and another woman with a gunshot wound to her leg.<\/p>\n
Preliminary information is that a verbal dispute escalated and Orteno-Perez shot Perez-Palencia, killing her, police said. The man then shot the other woman, who was in her 40s, in the leg before turning the gun on himself.<\/p>\n
Lifesaving efforts were made, but Orteno-Perez died of his injuries, police said.<\/p>\n
Police have not yet released the name of the injured woman.<\/p>\n
Orteno-Perez and woman in her 40s lived in the Kent house, said police spokesman Jarod Kasner in an email. Perez-Palencia was from Renton and in a dating relationship with the man, Kasner said.<\/p>\n
Detectives continue to investigate the case. Police have not released what started the dispute. Kasner said there were no other details to release at this time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
