The Kent Police Department and the Kent Drug Free Coalition received a $188,580 federal grant to help prevent underage drinking.<\/p>\n

Kent received a Sober Truth on Preventing Underage Drinking (STOP) grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration, an agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.<\/p>\n

The grant is over a four-year period for $47,145 per year. STOP grant funds will be used to support underage drinking prevention strategies, directed for student’s in grades 6-12, as well as community-based strategies such as alcohol compliance checks of local on and off site alcohol establishments.<\/p>\n
