Kent Police will team up with the Washington Auto Theft Prevention Authority and Kent Station to help residents reduce the likelihood of their car being broken into or stolen.<\/p>\n
As part of this event from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26 at the Kent Station shopping center, free steering wheel locking devices will be given to owners of vehicles most commonly stolen in the city. Those vehicles include 1990 to 1999 Hondas, Nissans, Acuras and Toyota’s.<\/p>\n
“These cars have proven to be very reliable, but over time the ignition switches wear out making them easier to steal,” said Kent Police Assistant Chief Rafael Padilla. “It is our desire to help the owners of these cars to make them more resistant to theft.”<\/p>\n
This event coincides with the arrival of Santa at Kent Station.<\/p>\n
The anti-theft Club devices were purchased through a grant from the Washington Auto Theft Prevention Authority. Kent Station has graciously offered space for a booth to be set up where the public can pick them up. Any person who brings in a registration for one of the older import cars listed above will be given a free Club.<\/p>\n
The booth will be in the courtyard of the AMC Cinemas at Kent Station. The address is 426 Ramsay Way. There is a limited supply of Clubs and they will be distributed to owners until they are gone.
