Two men got in a fight along the Union Pacific railroad tracks near Kent’s ShoWare Center after their car got stuck on the tracks.

Kent officers responded to multiple 911 calls about the fight at 9:10 p.m. Nov. 5 in the 700 block of West James Street, according to the police report.

When police arrived, they saw a silver Toyota Camry stuck on the tracks north of James Street and four men standing around the vehicle in some type of dispute. Two of the men were bleeding from the mouth and had cuts on their faces. All four had been inside the car.

Police arrested a man for investigation of fourth-degree assault for reportedly starting the fight with one of the other men. The man started to push and hit the driver of the car. The two were friends. The driver tried to get the car off the road and ended up stuck on the tracks.

Officers tried to talk to the man who reportedly started the fight, but an officer wrote in his report that the man was very intoxicated and police couldn’t get him to calm down to talk about the dispute.

Man had drugs in court

Police arrested a man for investigation of possession of drug paraphernalia after he reportedly brought a plastic baggie of heroin at about 9 a.m. on Nov. 7 into Kent Municipal Court, 1220 Central Ave. S.

An officer working court security received a call to go to a courtroom to take a man into custody for showing up late for a DUI charge, according to the police report. A judge issued an arrest warrant with bail set at $2,500. An officer took the man to the nearby city jail.

A few moments later, the officer realized the man had dropped a bus pass and a plastic baggie in the courthouse just prior to being handcuffed. The substance inside the baggie tested positive for heroin.

When the officer returned to the jail to talk to the man about the drug arrest, the man replied, “I don’t walk to talk about nothing. I don’t know nothing.”

Man steals phone charger

A man allegedly took a cellphone battery charger on Nov. 7 from the Alpha XR store at 25605 104th Ave., SE.

A store employee called 911 to report the man had shoplifted an item and left the store on foot, according to the police report.

Officers found the man walking through the McDonald’s parking lot in the 10100 block of Southeast 256th Street. Police arrested him for investigation of third-degree theft. The man admitted to police to taking the battery. He said he was homeless, addicted to heroin and had no money, so he took the charger so he could call his daughter.

A store clerk saw the phone charger missing from an aisle shortly after the man walked down it. The man removed the wrapping from the charger after he left the store and told officers he threw the packaging into bushes near McDonald’s. Police found the wrapper.

Man punches man

Police arrested a man for investigation of fourth-degree assault after he allegedly punched his brother-in-law during a dispute at about 10:45 p.m. on Nov. 4 in an alley outside of a home in the 900 block of Second Avenue North.

A woman reported a dispute between her boyfriend and her boyfriend’s uncle, according to the police report. The uncle became upset because someone had removed the magazine from his gun.

Officers noted they were familiar with the address because a man had threatened to commit suicide inside the home during previous incidents earlier this year and in 2015.

Woman flees work release

Police cited a woman for investigation of escape from the city jail after she reportedly walked away from a work release site on Nov. 5 at the Kent Senior Center, 600 E. Smith St.

The woman was serving a 90-day sentence for a third-degree theft charge with release set for Dec. 21, according to the police report. A supervisor picked her up at the jail at about 10 a.m. for work at the senior center. A supervisor reported the woman missing at about 2:30 p.m. After about a 30-minute search, the woman couldn’t be found.

The woman also failed to return to jail by 8 p.m. as required under the work release program.

Two men got in a fight along the Union Pacific railroad tracks near Kent’s ShoWare Center after their car got stuck on the tracks.

[9,4
["post-24851","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-home","category-news
