Anyone who goes to the city of Kent summer concert Thursday evening, Aug. 16 at Lake Meridian Park might want to stop by a new concession stand.

Scenic Hill Elementary students will run a concession stand to raise funds for fifth-grade teacher Stacy Ankerfelt, who is recovering from serious injuries suffered when a car struck her in July outside of her Auburn home.

Riley Lopes, who graduated in June from the school, helped organize the fundraiser to help Ankerfelt, 28, pay for medical expenses.

The stand will feature ice cream, water, pop and other items. The city of Kent granted a special permit to allow sales during the concert that starts at 7 p.m. and goes until 8:30 p.m.

The concert features the Seattle Women’s Jazz Orchestra.
