Dian was born in Oakland, CA, lived in Topsail Island, NC and then Glenview Naval Air Station at the edge of the airfield. Dian\u2019s father was in the Marines and NJ was his final station. The family moved to Tacoma in 1968.Dian attended Clover Park High School, received a bachelor\u2019s degree in mathematics from the University of Puget Sound, and then a master\u2019s degree in computer science from Seattle Pacific University. Dian worked most of her life at Boeing as an aerospace engineer. She loved her work and admired her team.Dian played field hockey and tennis, loved nature, orcas and the San Juan Islands. She was an active member of the Sierra Club. She bicycled coast to coast for the US Bicentennial. Dian was the kindest, most accepting and generous person imaginable. She will be deeply missed.Dian is survived by father Clifford Alyea, mother Phyllis Rus-sell, brother Alan (Marie), niece Rachael and nephew Eric, devoted dog Maggie and many beloved friends.Memorial service March 27 at 1:00 at Tacoma Nature Center, 1919 S. Tyler St. She requests donations to any conservation group or public TV.<\/p>\n
