{"id":2407,"date":"2013-04-30T16:17:31","date_gmt":"2013-04-30T23:17:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spiken.wpengine.com\/news\/king-county-taking-nominations-for-small-business-awards\/"},"modified":"2016-10-21T15:45:38","modified_gmt":"2016-10-21T22:45:38","slug":"king-county-taking-nominations-for-small-business-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/business\/king-county-taking-nominations-for-small-business-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"King County taking nominations for small business awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p>King County Executive Dow Constantine celebrated Tuesday the beginning of the nomination period for the 2013 Executive\u2019s Small Business Awards at the West Seattle location of last year\u2019s winner, Easy Street Records.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\u201cI am excited to celebrate our local small businesses for the third year in a row, and I encourage anyone who meets the criteria to apply,\u201d Constantine said.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Businesses are eligible for nomination if they operate within King County, have 50 or fewer employees, and have been in business for at least three years. Cities, chambers of commerce, certain business organizations, and small business owners may nominate local firms that meet the criteria. The nomination form can be found online at <a title=\"biz\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kingcounty.gov\/exec\/constantine\/BusinessAward.aspx\" target=\"_self\">www.kingcounty.gov\/smallbusinessawards.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Nominations are open through July 15.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>The Executive\u2019s Small Business Awards are sponsored in partnership with KeyBank, Microsoft Corporation, the Economic Development Council of Seattle and King County, and the Workforce Development Council of Seattle-King County.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>An average of 125 firms are nominated each year. Three finalist firms are selected in each of seven categories, and winners are announced at a high-energy, breakfast-hour ceremony attended by nearly 250 people from local chambers of commerce, cities, and small business organizations.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>The 2013 award ceremony will be Wednesday, Sept. 25 at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue, with appearances from emcee Pat Cashman and the Seahawks Blue Thunder Drumline.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Last year\u2019s winners were selected by a panel of judges from local jurisdictions and business organizations.
