Kent City Councilwoman Dana Ralph has been elected to the 2016 Board of Directors of the Sound City Association (SCA), which represents 36 cities in King County, and provides a regional voice for nearly one million people.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

This is Ralph\u2019s first term on the 13 member SCA Board.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are excited that Councilmember Ralph has been elected to the noard and will serve as a representative from the South Caucus,\u201d said SCA Executive Director Deanna Dawson in a media release. \u201cHer participation will help in our efforts to the build long-term community and economic prosperity for our region and state.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

SCA provides a voice for King County cities through leadership in areas such as economic and community development, transportation, land use, health, government operations, the environment, education, public safety, social welfare and other public policy issues.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Representatives from the cities of Auburn, Burien, Covington, Des Moines, Federal Way, Kent, Maple Valley, Normandy Park, Renton, SeaTac and Tukwila elect four people to represent the South Caucus on the board. Kent City Councilman Dennis Higgins served on the board in 2015 and 2014.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Prior to her election to the council in 2011, Ralph served on Kent\u2019s Land Use and Planning Board, which she also chaired and helped to shape the course of Kent\u2019s land use, economic development, natural resources and the sense of place to pass on to future generations.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Ralph serves on the council\u2019s Public Works Committee, Public Safety Committee and Operations Committee. She also represents Kent at Sound Cities Association by serving on the Regional Law, Safety and Justice Committee and the Transportation Policy Board, is the vice-chair of South County Area Transportation Board, member of WRIA 9 (Green River watershed), and chair of the Drug Free Communities Coalition. She is the vice president of Kent Kiwanis, liaison to the Kent Arts Commission and chair of the Kent Auburn Tamba Sister City Association.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

SCA, which was formerly known as the Suburban Cities Association, was established more than 40 years ago to help King County cities act locally and partner regionally to create vital and thriving communities through advocacy, education, leadership, mutual support and networking.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
