Kent-Meridian High School’s Keeley Phommathirath and Kentridge’s Peyton Chick signed letters of intent on Feb. 3 to play college soccer. Phommathirath plans to attend Central Washington University in Ellensburg, while Chick will head to Western Washington University in Bellingham.

Phommathirath, a 5-foot-8 forward, was a four-year starter at Kent-Meridian and led her team in scoring each season. She was twice named a SPSL 4A All-League second-team player, also was the starting forward for the Seattle United Copa club team. Aside from her soccer career, Phommathirath was an All-State track and field competitor in the 100-meter dash, high jump and 400-meter relay.

“Keeley is an outside midfielder that is very fast, attacks well from the outside, and has shown an ability to get behind the line of defense,” Central Washington coach Michael Farrand said in a press release. “She also has a very long throw-in, which will allow us to attack the penalty box much like we would on a corner kick.”

Chick, a 5-5 forward, was a four-year starter for Kentridge, which went 49-12-7 during her prep career and won the SPSL league championship each season. She helped lead her team to multiple state appearances, setting a school record of 53 career goals. Chick, a three-year captain for the PacNW Eastside club team, was a three-time SPSL 4A All-League player, a 4A All-State selection and a member of the 2015 News Tribune All-Area team.

“Peyton has a very well-rounded game,” Western Washington coach Travis Connell said in a press release. “She is a dynamic attacking player that understands how to be effective without the ball and how to combine with others in the final third. She can play with her back to the goal and get in behind defenses.”
