Arrogance, illusions of grandeur, financial irresponsibly, lack of common sense. These are the words that come to mind when I read about global warming, climate change, climate cycles, and other buzz words that describe what is going on with our planet and how we are must go about fixing it.

What bothers me most is that our governments at all levels are going to spend billions and billions to combat climate changes that will make a change of maybe one percent over 20 years – illusions of grandeur, indeed. On the one hand we agree that our earth goes through cooling and heating cycles, no matter what any humans or animals do or don’t do. On the other hand we have the arrogance, financial irresponsibility and lack of commonsense to try to change those cycles.

Why do we insist that world climate changes, that is, cooling in some areas and warming in others, are due to our action or inaction? Just think about the long list of culprits that have been named. None are even close in magnitude to what the earth is handing out naturally all the time, day in and day out. For example, thousands of volcanoes active for thousands of years, constant forest fires, natural methane emissions, ozone fluctuations, seasonal and weather-related freezing and thawing, ocean currents, etc, etc. We are talking about magnitudes here that pale in comparison to what humans and animals do to affect climates.

Our earth has natural scrubbing mechanisms. One of those is that plants take up carbon dioxide and give off oxygen. So let’s take that tax money and plant lots of things and keep the government out of it.
