{"id":23057,"date":"2010-09-28T12:16:32","date_gmt":"2010-09-28T19:16:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/kent-man-to-compete-in-smith-wesson-uspsa-n%c2%adational-handgun-championships\/"},"modified":"2010-09-28T12:16:32","modified_gmt":"2010-09-28T19:16:32","slug":"kent-man-to-compete-in-smith-wesson-uspsa-n%c2%adational-handgun-championships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/kent-man-to-compete-in-smith-wesson-uspsa-n%c2%adational-handgun-championships\/","title":{"rendered":"Kent man to compete in Smith &#038; Wesson USPSA N\u00adational Handgun Championships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.uspsa-nationals.org\">The 2\u00ad010 Smith &#038; Wesson USPSA N\u00adational Handgun Championships<\/a> Oct. 9-16 will bring together the best shooters from across America, an\u00add around the world, in a quest for the coveted title of National Champion in the dynamic \u201crun-and-gun\u201d sport of practical shooting\u00ad.<\/p>\n<p>Among the more than 580 shooters making the trek to Las Vegas to compete in the championships will be local top guns David Farrow of Auburn, Scott Sipe of Kent, Scott Leroux of Maple Valley, Timothy McDowell of Kirkland, Bob Loo of Issaquah, David Tuai of Seattle and Albert Lim of Sammamish.<\/p>\n<p>In all, 45 states and six foreign nations will be represented at the matches, which are run by the U.S. Practical Shooting Association at the Desert Sportsman\u2019s Rifle &#038; Pistol Club in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n<p>During competition shooters will face 18 stages \u2013 or courses of fire \u2013 that are designed to test the competitors\u2019 speed and accuracy using multiple targets, including moving targets that swing, bob and appear briefly before quickly disappearing again.<\/p>\n<p>\u00adAn estimated 250,000 rounds of ammunition will be put down range at the event.<\/p>\n<p>The Smith &#038; Wesson USPSA National Handgun Championships consist of two major events. The first is the Open and Limited-10 division competition followed by the Limited, Production and Revolver division contest.<\/p>\n<p>Divisions are based on the different types of firearm used in each.
