A husband became upset with his wife’s lunch plans and reportedly grabbed her and bit her face during an incident at 9:33 p.m. Oct. 10 at an apartment in the 25600 block of 98th Avenue South.

Police arrested the man for investigation of fourth-degree assault.

The wife told police that when she returned home her husband had argued with her about eating lunch with coworkers. She told officers her husband had been drinking and the argument escalated.

The husband reportedly grabbed his wife’s arm, spat in her face, hit her in the face and then bit her on the right cheek. The responding officer noted the woman had a bite mark on her cheek. The husband had broken the telephone cord during the argument, so the wife left the apartment and called police from a nearby store.

Public disturbance

After more than a half-dozen noise complaints by a neighbor of loud music over the last two months from a nearby restaurant, Kent Police cited the restaurant’s manager early Oct. 5 for disturbing the peace.

The restaurant is in the 1800 block of West Meeker Street, just east of Russell Road.

A resident of an apartment complex just north of the restaurant called police at 1:08 a.m. Oct. 5 to report loud music coming from inside the restaurant, according to the police report. The restaurant had been the topic of a number of calls for the past two months.

The officer noted in the report that he had visited the restaurant at least six times for noise complaints and that he’d spoken to the manager on four of those trips. The officer told the manager he would be cited for disturbing the peace if the loud music continued.

The officer said he could hear the music when he drove into the restaurant parking lot, even with the car’s windows up and engine running. The officer parked the car about 75 feet from the restaurant and could still hear the music.

Theft

A woman reportedly tried to steal as many as six DVDs Oct. 7 from a store in the 10200 block of Southeast 240th Street, reportedly in an effort to make money to pay her rent.

Police arrested her for investigation of third-degree theft. Officers also arrested the woman for investigation of possession of drug paraphernalia after reportedly finding a glass pipe in her pants pocket. The officers noted the pipe is the type often used to smoke crack cocaine.

Store security personnel called police after they tried to handcuff the woman in the parking lot, but the woman refused to let them put on the second cuff.

Police secured the woman in the handcuffs. The woman told officers, “People steal stuff every day. It was only a DVD.”
