The Regina Pats defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 6-3 Sunday night at the Brandt Centre in Regina, Saskatchewan.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
This was the T-Birds’ second game on a six-game road trip through the East Division. They beat the Swift Current Broncos 2-1 Friday night.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The T-Birds will play the Saskatoon Blades on Tuesday and the Prince Albert Raiders on Wednesday. They then travel to play the Brandon Wheat Kings on Friday, Nov. 4, and the Moose Jaw Warriors on Saturday, Nov. 5.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The T-Birds were trailing by a goal late in the third period when they pulled goalie Rylan Toth for an extra attacker to try and tie the game. The Pats were able score two empty-net goals to seal the win.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Regina took a 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal by Austin Wagner at 5:26 of the first period. Wagner stole the puck from a T-Bird defenseman in front of the Seattle net and beat Toth over the glove.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Seattle outshot Regina 9-6 in the first period.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Seattle (4-6-0-1) tied the game 1-1 on a power-play goal by Ethan Bear at 1:55 of the second period. Alexander True won a faceoff through backwards through his legs. Sami Moilanen got the puck and moved it to Bear at the right point. Bear walked the blue line to center ice and then took a slap shot that beat Regina goalie Tyler Brown over the glove.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Regina (10-0-3-0) came right back and took a 2-1 lead at 2:31 of the second on a goal from Same Steel. Steel tipped a Chase Harrison point shot under Toth.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The Pats made an it a 3-1 lead at 5:45 of the second on a power-play goal from Lane Zablocki. Dawson Leedahl and Jake Leschyshyn had the assists.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The T-Birds cut the Pats lead to one goal at 8:50 of the second on the power play. Bear had the puck at the left point and passed the puck to Moilanen coming through the top of the slot. Moilanen took the pass and curled to the Regina goal. Moilanen beat Brown on the glove side for his third goal of the season.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Wagner was awarded a penalty shot at 9:42 of the second when he was tripped up on a breakaway. Toth stopped Wagner with a blocker save on the penalty shot.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Regina outshot Seattle 11-7 in the second period and led 17-16 in shots after 40 minutes.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The Pats were given a slashing penalty at the end of the second period. Nolan Volcan was able to capitalize on the power play 1:11 into the third period to tie the game 3-3. Bear had puck at right point and crossed it to Turner Ottenbreit in the left circle. Ottenbreit skated towards the Regina net with Nolan Volcan coming into the low slot. Ottenbreit sent the puck towards the net and Volcan tipped it under Brown for the tying goal.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Adam Brooks scored a power-play goal at 9:30 of the third to give the Pats a 4-3 lead. Steel and Connor Hobbs had the assists.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Hobbs scored an empty-net goal at 17:46 and Leedahl scored an empty-net goal at 18:46 of the third to secure the win for the Pats.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Seattle outshot Regina 13-11 in the third period and finished the game with a 29-28 advantage in shots.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Toth made 22 saves on 26 shots in the loss.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Brown stopped 25 of 28 shots.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
