The Seattle Thunderbirds ended their preseason schedule with a 4-3 shootout win over the Everett Silvertips on Saturday night at Xfinity Arena.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The T-Birds, 5-2-0-0 in the preseason, open the regualr season in Portland against the Winterhawks on Saturday, Sept. 24. Face-off is 7:05 p.m.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Seattle goalie Carl Stankowski stopped all three Everett shooters in the shootout. Seattle’s second shooter, Layne Bensmiller, was the only T-Bird shooter to score in the shootout.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Bensmiller was acquired in a trade with the Prince Albert Raiders on Thursday, and he joined the T-Birds in Everett after travelling earlier in the day.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The T-Birds took a 1-0 lead 4:15 into the game on a shorthanded goal from Cavin Leth.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The Silvertips tied it 1-1 at 10:45 of the first period on a goal from Riley Sutter then took the lead at 14:49 with a power-play goal from Brett Kemp.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Bensmiller tied the game 2-2 at 4:38 of the second period. Everett went in front 3-2 eight seconds after the T-Birds tied the game on a goal from Sean Richards.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Sami Moilanen tied the game 3-3 on a power-play goal at 10:15 of the second period.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Ryan Gilchrist started in net for the T-Birds. He was replaced Stankowski after Moilanen’s goal. Gilchrist made 13 saves on 16 shots.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Everett outshot Seattle 39-15 in the game.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Stankowski stopped all 23 shots he faced. He was 4-0-0-0 in the preseason.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Everett goalie Mario Petit made 12 saves on 15 shots.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
