King County Sheriff deputies were called to Northwood Middle School Dec. 9 after a 12-year-old boy reportedly scratched three other students on their arms with a razor blade.<\/p>\n

According to police, the injuries were minor and the victims, two 12-year-old boys and a 13-year-old girl, were treated with adhesive bandages by the school nurse and returned to class.<\/p>\n

The boy was released to his mother.<\/p>\n

According to Northwood Principal Colleen Nelson, the boy had a single-edged razor blade and the incident was not a violent one. It is not known where he got the razor blade.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was not an attack,\u201d Nelson said.<\/p>\n

Nelson said the victims were acquaintances of the boy, who was \u201csignificantly disciplined,\u201d including a suspension.<\/p>\n

In a letter sent home Wednesday, Nelson asked parents to talk with their students about the importance of school safety and of not minimizing issues such a razor blade in school, something she reiterated in an interview Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn order to create a safe school we need all students, parents and staff to be vigilant,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The case was forwarded to the King County Prosecutor\u2019s Office to determine if any charges would be brought against the boy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
