The Seattle Thunderbirds scored goals on two of their first three shifts Saturday night at Comcast Arena to skate past the Everett Silvertips 5-3 in the last preseason game of the year for both teams.

The T-Birds end the preseason with a 3-2-1-0 record and now look forward to the start of the regular season.

They open the season against the Portland Winterhawks on Friday at the Rose Garden at 7 p.m. The home opener is Saturday, Sept. 22, against the Winterhawks at ShoWare Center at 7:05 p.m.

Seattle jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead with goals on their second and third shifts of the game.

Brad Deagle sent a pass from the right boards to Roberts Lipsbergs just on top of the crease. Lipsbergs redirected the pass over Everett goalie Austin Lotz at the 48 second mark of the first period.

Connor Sanvido put the T-Birds up 2-0 on the next shift when he did the same thing as Lipsbergs. Sanvido was in the crease and he redirected a pass from Shea Theodore over the glove of Lotz at 1:20 of the first.

Branden Troock put the T-Birds up 3-0 when he scored from the behind the goal line. Theodore moved the puck from his zone up to Luke Lockhart in the neutral zone. Lockhart crossed it to Troock coming down the right wing. Troock faked a slap shot then went wide. Troock tried to center the puck to Lockhart but the pass was blocked and squirted to the right of the goal. Troock got it and put the puck off the back of Lotz and into the net.

The Silvertips got their first goal at 19:41 of the first when Kohl Bauml scored. Nick Walters and Carson Stadnyk had the assists.

Everett outshot Seattle 14-7 in the first period.

Seattle extended the lead to 4-1 48 seconds into the second period on a very nice goal from Alexander Delnov.

Everett came right back and scored two goals in three minutes midway through the second period to cut the T-Birds lead to one goal. Carson Stadnyk scored at 9:57 and Ty Mappin got the third goal at 12:18 of the second.

Seattle replaced Justin Myles in net with 10:03 left in the second period. Myles made 14 saves on 16 shots before giving way to Danny Mumaugh. Myles gets the win and his preseason record is 2-1-0-0.

Both teams had eight shots on goal in the second period and Everett (3-4-0-0) held a 22-15 advantage in shots.

Seattle extended the lead to 5-3 with a power-play goal at 12:44 of the third period. Justin Hickman had the puck behind the Everett net and centered it to Lockhart in the slot. Lockhart beat Lotz high for the goal. Brendan Rouse had the second assist on the goal.

Seattle outshot Everett 9-6 in the third period.

Mumaugh made 11 saves on 12 shots in his 30 minutes of action.
