{"id":21684,"date":"2013-01-09T11:02:49","date_gmt":"2013-01-09T19:02:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spiken.wpengine.com\/news\/kent-school-district-gets-on-board-with-washington-states-month-of-observance\/"},"modified":"2013-01-09T11:02:49","modified_gmt":"2013-01-09T19:02:49","slug":"kent-school-district-gets-on-board-with-washington-states-month-of-observance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/kent-school-district-gets-on-board-with-washington-states-month-of-observance\/","title":{"rendered":"Kent School District gets on board with Washington state&#8217;s month of observance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.k12.wa.us\/site\/default.aspx?PageID=1\" target=\"_blank\">Kent School District<\/a> is participating in Washington State&#8217;s School Board recognition month.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Initiated by the National School Boards Association in 1995, this holiday intends to honor school board members from participating schools.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>KSD has joined \u00a0and received the Board of Distinction award for &#8220;demonstrating an understanding of their leadership role and follow through on their responsibilities, while showing concern for the educational excellence and equity for all students.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\u201cWe have a wonderful group of board members, and they selflessly give their time to serve our students and community every day,\u201d said Dr. Edward Lee Vargas, superintendent. &#8220;Our district is large and diverse, so their job is no easy task.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>The KSD Board of Directors will be recognized at the January 23rd meeting, which will be held at 7 p.m. in the lobby of building A on the administration campus. The Kent-Meridian Symphonics Orchestra will be playing during the reception as well.
