Bring any expired, unwanted and unused prescription medication to the Kent Police Department, 232 Fourth Ave. S., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 26.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The collection is part of the DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Officials ask that you remove labels or use permanent marker on identifying information. People cannot drop off intravenous solutions, injectables, syringes, medical waste or any illicit substances such as marijuana or methamphetamines.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Proper disposal of medications is key to preventing misuse and abuse, according to a Kent Police media release. Prescription drugs are the second most commonly abused narcotic. The dangers posed by prescription medications have no boundaries.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

While more than 2.1 million teens report abusing prescription drugs, the elderly are also vulnerable to prescription misuse as they are prescribed more medications than their younger counterparts.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

While most people take prescription medications responsibly, 48 million people have reported using prescription drugs for non-medical reasons. This represents nearly 20 percent of the U.S. population.<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
