My neighbors and I are not in agreement with the apparent decision to sell the Kent (Riverbend) par 3 golf property.

With a city beget of $100 million annually, we don’t understand why the city would find this necessary. We understand if it is not making money, other alternatives should be considered.

Why not turn it into a park or a soccer field for the people of Kent? The parks department is not expected to make money, are they?

We already have an outstanding parks/recreation infrastructure in this city. Wouldn’t this blend in well with that? We would even be willing to approve a special assessment to retire the debt on the property.

Why not let the citizens of Kent vote on whether they are willing to approve a special limited life assessment to retire the debt on this property and keep it for other recreational purposes? How often does Kent have a viable opportunity to acquire land like this for open space recreation?
