A King County Superior Court judge found probable cause Thursday to hold a 43-year-old man in connection with the deaths of his parents at their Panther Lake home.

The man, a Panther Lake resident, is being held for investigation of two counts of second-degree murder of his father, Joe Housley, and mother, Karen Housley, at their home in the 21200 block of 124th Avenue Southeast, according to documents released Thursday by the King County Prosecutor’s Office.

Bail was set at $2 million.

Sheriff’s detectives arrested the son early Thursday morning at a Tukwila motel in connection with the deaths of the Panther Lake couple, each in their 60s.

The son, who sometimes lived at the home, allegedly got into an argument with his parents, detectives said. He reportedly pushed his parents down a flight of stairs, stabbed and slit both of their throats and then hit each of them in the head with a baseball bat.

The victims were found dead in their home Wednesday afternoon by another of their adult sons.

He had become concerned after he was unable to reach his parents for several days.

Prosecutors have until Monday to officially charge the son in the case, said Ian Goodhew, spokesman for the King County Prosecutor’s Office.
