King County Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating the deaths of a couple in their 60s found dead Wednesday inside their Panther Lake-area home, just east of the Kent city limits.

A son of the man and the woman found the couple dead in the home in the 21200 block of 124th Avenue Southeast. There were signs of homicidal violence on their bodies, said John Urquhart, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office.

Any further details on the cause of the deaths will be released by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office, Urquhart said.

“The investigation is in the very early stages,” Urquhart said Wednesday evening. “It remains an open investigation.”

Urquhart said they had no leads on any suspects at this time.

An adult son of the victims called the sheriff’s office early Wednesday morning to conduct a welfare check because he lived outside the area and had not heard from his parents for some time.

Deputies found the house locked up and no sign of forced entry on the initial welfare check. They asked the son if he wanted them to break in, but he said he would drive to the home later to enter with a key.

The son entered the home at about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday and found the bodies, Urquhart said.
