Residents and business owners in the Green River Valley can learn how to protect themselves and their property this winter, by attending public meetings Oct. 3 and Oct. 8 at the ShoWare Center, 625 W. James St., in Kent.<\/p>\n
Kent city officials will host the meetings from 9-11 a.m. Oct. 3 and from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 8.<\/p>\n
Topics to be addressed<\/p>\n
\u2022 An update by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers regarding damage assessment at the dam, operation changes and possible river impacts.<\/p>\n
\u2022 King County Flood Warning Center operations, enhanced response activities and what residents can do to stay informed.<\/p>\n
\u2022 The current status of emergency coordination plans and resident notification by Kent Emergency Management.<\/p>\n
\u2022 The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will provide the facts about flood insurance and resources available to residents and businesses to protect themselves and their property.<\/p>\n
Each meeting will start with a 30-minute open house, followed by presentations and close with a 30-minute question and answer session.<\/p>\n
Representatives from the cities of Auburn, Renton and Tukwila also will be on hand to answer questions.<\/p>\n
