Skewes died Feb. 21 in Sequim after a lengthy illness.<\/p>\n<p>Skewes, 71, of Port Angeles, served as the Kent police chief from 1976-84, said Kent Mayor Suzette Cooke, who announced the death of Skewes at the March 2 City Council meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Skewes died at the Olympic Care &amp; Rehabilitation Center in Sequim, according to the Web site of the Drennan &amp; Ford Funeral Home in Port Angeles.
