It took a nearly four-minute tussle before two Kent Police officers could handcuff a man who had reportedly assaulted his wife.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
An officer even fired a Taser in an effort to control the man before the arrival of a third officer finally put a stop to the struggle at about 4:27 a.m. on May 13 at a house in the 25400 block of 116th Avenue Southeast, according to the police report. It took several officers to get the man into a patrol vehicle.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
One officer described the fight as the most physically draining and intense altercation he had been in since becoming an officer nine years ago.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Police responded to a verbal domestic dispute call. The husband had left the home by the time police arrived but returned when officers were still present. The man ignored commands to put his hands behind his back and at one point tried to grab a weapon on an officer\u2019s duty belt. A second officer fired a Taser at the man, but the darts didn\u2019t slow him.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The wife told officers her husband came home intoxicated, yelled insults at her for allegedly cheating with another man, and began to punch her in the face, stomach and chest. The husband declined to answer any questions from police about the incident.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Police arrested the man for investigation of fourth-degree assault, resisting arrest and obstructing an officer.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Man caught with drugs<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p>\n Officers arrested a man for investigation of possession of drug paraphernalia after they found him passed out in the driver\u2019s seat of a running vehicle parked in a lot on May 16 in the 6300 block of South 228th Street.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n When officers ran the vehicle\u2019s license plate and the man\u2019s name, records showed he had 25 police contacts in the previous 10 weeks, according to the police report. He has a history of drug and driving violations with the Kent, Auburn and Renton police as well as the Washington State Patrol.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Officers saw inside the vehicle an exposed needle and a pop can with a small hole in it. The report noted that pop cans are often used to smoke narcotics. The man told police he had smoked heroin earlier and used the needle for heroin as well.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Woman punches girlfriend<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p>\n Police arrested a woman for investigation of fourth-degree assault after she allegedly punched her girlfriend in the face during a dispute at about 2:26 p.m. on May 16 at a house in the 800 block of West Valley Highway.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n The woman who threw the punches became upset because she thought her girlfriend had broken the windshield on her vehicle, according to the police report. The woman also reportedly chased her girlfriend with a kitchen knife.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n The two had dated for about eight months and lived together until about a month ago.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Man takes pants from Goodwill<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p>\n Officers cited a man for third-degree theft after he reportedly tried to steal pants and a shirt at about 12:27 p.m. on May 13 at the Goodwill store, 25814 102nd Place S.E.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n A loss prevention officer at the store saw a man wearing green pants take a pair of tan pants off a rack, go to the fitting room and come out wearing tan pants, according to the police report. The man then placed the green pants on a rack. He also took a shirt and put it on under the shirt he was wearing.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n The man told police the pants and shirt were his but had no proof.
