{"id":20642,"date":"2016-01-06T14:55:12","date_gmt":"2016-01-06T22:55:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spiken.wpengine.com\/news\/florence-turns-100\/"},"modified":"2016-10-21T18:20:29","modified_gmt":"2016-10-22T01:20:29","slug":"florence-turns-100","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/florence-turns-100\/","title":{"rendered":"Florence turns 100"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p>Florence Ermina Pullen turned 100 years old on Monday.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Born Jan. 4, 1916, Pullen grew up in Idaho and lived in Wallowa, Ore., for 52 years for before moving to Auburn in 2000. She now splits her time living with two of her daughters in Kent and Bonney Lake.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Pullen will celebrate her 100th birthday on Saturday with about 130 friends and family members at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Auburn.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t feel any different,&#8221; Pullen said of turning 100. &#8220;I can&#8217;t believe it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>After graduating from high school and college in Pocatello, Idaho, Pullen taught school for a year before having her first child, and also worked as a nurse&#8217;s aide. She was married to Elmer &#8220;Shorty&#8221; Pullen  for 58, before he died in 1997.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Pullen has five children, Patricia Soroe of Kent, William Pullen of Auburn, Maynard Pullen of Scottsdale, Ariz., Barbara Brunner of Bonney Lake and Pamela May of Auburn.
