With continued snow and icy conditions around the county, King County Animal Care and Control is limiting where and how quickly its officers and staff can respond to animal-related calls out in the field. Therefore they are asking the public to only call or email King County Animal Care and Control if they have a priority call — which is defined as a person or animal being attacked or severely bitten by an animal, an injured animal, or calls about animals being left outside exposed to the elements and without protection, fresh water and food. All animal control vehicles are equipped with chains.

King County Animal Care and Control shelters located in Kent and Bellevue (Crossroads) were open for business today and will be open regular hours tomorrow, weather permitting. Animal Control Officers at both animal shelters made it through the snow and were able to care for the animal residents and assist with the few customers who came in to adopt, redeem or surrender animals at the shelters.

The Animal Care and Control Call Center (206-296-PETS) closed at 3 pm today. Fortunately, the call activity was extremely low. The recorded message at 206-296-PETS informs callers with emergencies to contact 9-1-1 directly.

The holiday adoption event at Kent Station scheduled for Saturday, December 20 (12-4) has been cancelled.
