The Everett Silvertips beat the Seattle Thunderbirds 2-1 in overtime Saturday night at Comcast Arena in Everett.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
This was the second game of a home-and-home series between the two teams. Everett won 2-1 Friday night at ShoWare Center.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Seattle outshot Everett 12-11 a scoreless first period.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Everett (15-22-0-1) took a 1-0 lead at 9:26 of the second period when Josh Winquist scored. Manraj Hayer had the only assist on the goal.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Both teams had 13 shots on goal in the second period and the T-Birds lead 25-24 in total shots after 40 minutes.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Seattle (16-18-2-1) tied the game late in the third period. Connor Sanvido intercepted a Silvertips pass in the Seattle zone and broke up the left wing with Seth Swenson on his right. In the left circle Sanvido took a wrist shot that deflected off an Everett defenseman’s stick right to Swenson in the right circle. Everett goalie Austin Lotz went down to stop Sanvido’s shot which gave Swenson the whole net to shoot at. Swenson snapped the puck past an out of position Lotz for his 12th goal of the season, which came at 15:27 of the period.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The T-Birds outshot the Silvertips 8-4 in the third period and led 33-28 in total shots after regulation.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Winquist won the game at 1:56 of overtime when he scored on a breakaway. Nick Walters made a long stretch pass to a breaking Winquist to get the only assist.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Seattle outshot Everett 35-30 in the game.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Seattle goalie Brandon Glover stopped 28 of 30 shots and his record is now 15-13-2-1.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Lotz made 34 saves on 35 shots and his record is now 7-12-0-2.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The T-Birds travel to Portland to take on the Winterhawks on Monday in the team’s annual New Year’s Eve game. The game is at the Rose Garden at 8 p.m.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
